The Northern VirginiaChapter’s value to the community is that it fills critical prevention and treatment service gaps. TheNorthern Virginia chapter seeks to augment and compliment the work of the public schools and other Autism support and advocacy organizations, such as The Loudoun Project, Parents of Autistic Children (POAC), and the American Society of Autism (ASA). The chapter’s agenda for the upcoming year Includes:
- Partnering with other Autism and related condition support and advocacy organizations to strengthen efforts locally
- Raising awareness about the alarming data relating to the prevalence of Autism spectrum and related disorders and its economic impact on society
- Supporting legal, financial management, and medical educational programs
- Supporting legislative initiatives that improve the quality of life for families coping with Autism spectrum and related conditions
- Acting as a guide for families with school age children to aid identification, diagnosis, and treatment of Autism Spectrum and related conditions
- Raising funds to help existing and new therapeutic service programs to grow
- Developing a paid internship school-to-work transition program for young adults with Autism Spectrum and related conditions
- Supporting families financially so that they may take maximum advantage of available programs,services, and treatments.
